This meeting focuses on ataxias while embracing lessons from broader research that inform shared biological pathways or therapeutic development. Abstracts highlighting pathways, technologies, or strategies with potential relevance to ataxias will be considered.
ICAR is introducing a new registration and abstract submission platform this year. Regardless of whether you’ve participated in ICAR before, you will need to create a new login (profile) in the new system.
To submit an abstract, click the button below. You will be prompted to create a login for the conference abstract submission software X-CD. Abstracts can be submitted under the following topics:
- Advances in genetics and diagnostics (including abstracts on new genes causing ataxia)
- Disease mechanisms (dominant ataxias)
- Disease mechanisms (recessive and non-hereditary ataxias)
- Emerging and existing therapeutics - pre-clinical research
- Emerging and existing therapeutics - clinical research
- Biomarkers (including imaging, fluid etc.)
- Clinical studies (including abstracts on patient preferences, natural history and observational studies, clinical outcomes and other clinical research), cognitive disorders and other non-motor features.
Abstract Format:
Abstract title should be a maximum of 150 characters (including spaces).
All authors must be listed, and one author noted as the presenting author.
Each author’s title and institution should be noted.
Abstract text must be limited to 300 words and should include the following paragraphs: Background and objectives, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion.
Travel bursaries are available for junior investigators including students, postdocs of 5 or fewer years (accounting for career disruptions), medical residents or fellows and working in a mentored environment. To apply for a travel bursary, submit:
- your CV (one page, include your research interest and list up to 5 most relevant publications)
- very brief statement (200-word limit) outlining your motivation for attending the conference and emphasizing alignment with your research and professional development
To be eligible for a bursary, your abstract must be selected for a poster or oral presentation, and you must be the presenting author.
